Two new electricity entities

Bush veto saves the Dominican tobacco industry

Dr1.com, Santo Domingo, November 7th 2007

The government created two new power sector entities. Presidential decrees 628 and 629 created the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company, and the Dominican Electricity Transmission Company. Both of these entities were formerly under the aegis of the CDEEE (the Dominican Company of State-owned Electricity Enterprises). Each of the new entities, according to El Caribe, will have its own salaried board of directors, appointed by the President. Each of the companies will be able to execute projects, create businesses and attract investments. The companies will function "with the resources they produce, with the funds assigned by the National Budget, with financing they obtain, and any other specialized funding that is specifically assigned (to them)".
