US$3.5B in trade make Dominican Republic Mexico 's major Caribbean partner

Mexico City . - Dominican ambassador in Mexico , Pablo Mariñez, said trade of US$3.5 billion between Dominican Republic and Mexico has made his country the latter's major partner in the Caribbean .
" Dominican Republic is the second-largest receptor country, only after Brazil , of Mexican capital investments in Latin America . These surpass 3.5 billion dollars," said the ambassador, describing the frequent trips by delegations of Mexican and Dominican investors to each other's countries as a two-way bridge.
Maríñez, speaking during a reception in the embassy to mark the 164th anniversary of Dominican Independence, said bilateral relations between both countries are improving, citing at least 10 treaties and agreements in effect.
He said a recent accord in civil aeronautics seeks to establish direct flights between the two nations, to take advantage of the tourism attractions and the large number of passengers between both countries.
