Dominican President gets Jamaica 's nod on measures to curb oil prices

MARACAIBO . - President Leonel Fernandez met with Jamaica prime minister and CARICOM coordinator Bruce Golding, who offered his country's support to participate in a meeting of 57 petroleum importing countries, whose income per capita doesn't surpass US$6,000.
In the bilateral meeting, after the end of the gathering of chief executives of countries members of PETROCARIBE, the two leaders spoke about the situation the small economies undergo, faced with the jumps in the price of oil.
The activity, proposed by the Dominican leader, will be part of a meeting of Foreign Relations ministers from 57 countries slated for July 21 in New York , where they'll request a halt to the speculation with the price of oil.
Approved in the PETROCARIBE Summit was Fernandez's proposal for the New York and London Stock markets to regulate futures contracts, aimed at eliminating the speculation with oil prices.
