Dominican Government revenue rises to RD$139B in first half (2008)

The Dominican Government collected RD$139 billion in the first half this year, or RD$10.5 billion more than the year before period, of RD$129 billion.
January to May revenue rose from a boost of around RD$5.8 billion from the PETROCARIBE oil deal with Venezuela, whereas those of the Falconbridge mine fell, said the Hacienda Ministry on its Web site.
Almost all revenue areas rose in the first half compared with the previous period, led by the Itbis Tax, with 21 billion collected by the Internal Taxes Agency and 17 billion by the Customs Agency.
Falconbridge's payments fell from RD$6 billion in the first half last year, to 3 billion this half.
The country received RD$1.2 billion in donations in the period, whereas revenues from PETROCARIBE rose to RD$6 billion.
