President Leonel Fernandez himself was the "conductor" for Santo Domingo’s subway first public test run, less than two hours after promising it in a morning television interview.

The 20 kilometer-per-hour test run spanned several kilometers began at 10:10 a.m. between the main station at Santo Domingo North and concluded three stops later.
Fernandez, jokingly announcing the stops to the "passengers" mostly reporters and officials, said the subway work represents progress, and said it‘ll be a "much more extensive run" on February 27.
