President Leonel Fernandez said today the company Linea Clave guarantees that within 60 days 40 natural gas stations will be operating for use in vehicles and the equipment to monitor transport with the new system.
Fernandez made the announcement during the inaugural of the First International Energy Week in the Jaragua hotel, with representatives from different international institutions and Government officials taking part.
"I believe that in a relatively short term, we can see the results of this. Today we can see how natural gas works and it's an exhibition, an example of what will also be the future of buses or the mechanisms of the mass, fast transit system," he said.
The chief executive said Linea Clave will begin to install 40 stations and will continue expanding in the measure the use of natural gas grows, instead of gasoline. He said the Government hasn't spent any money in those facilities.
Fernandez said to guarantee the supply which is traditionally bought in Trinidad & Tobago, an agreement would be signed with a company in Quatar.
As to International Energy Week, the chief executive, after touring the different stands, said the activity highlights energy's importance for the country.
